We’re Hiring a Postdoc

The Gunn Lab at Stony Brook University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the lab and perform research related to pancreatic metabolic enzymes. The Gunn Lab studies the structure of metabolic enzymes from the pancreas using techniques from biochemistry, biophysics, and cell biology.

Here are the details of our job posting:

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or a closely related field in hand by the appointment start date. Experience in research science. Experience in tissue culture and immunofluorescence microscopy. Experience in molecular biology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with protein purification. Experience with structural biology.  Experience with cryogenic electron microscopy.  Experience with pancreatic cell models.

Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the research laboratory of Dr. Kathryn Gunn. The successful candidate will participate in a collaborative research project investigating the vesicular storage of pancreatic metabolic enzymes. The project will utilize tissue culture models, immunofluorescence microscopy, and protein characterization. The project will transition to structural studies using cryogenic electron microscopy and tomography following initial characterization. Additional work may involve basic molecular biology techniques, negative stain EM, and activity assays.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication, organization, and independence.
